Indian Software Industry Expert Becomes CEO of US Firm

An IT Bombay graduate and software industry expert has been announced as the CEO of a top US company that develops engineering simulation software that’s used for the function of testing product designs over a wide variety of industries such as rockets and wearables.

Ajei Gopa is 54 years old. He will become CEO of Ansys, which is based in Pennsylvania. He will start working as CEO On Jan. 1, 2017.

Gopal has 25 years of experience in the tech software industry. He’s been a member of the ANSYS Board since the year 2011. Since then he’s been named the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company, which is effective immediately. He will also keep serving on the board.

James Cashman has served as the Chief Executive Officer of ANSYS since 2000. He will become the board’s Chairman of the Board starting in January 2017.

ANSYS stated that Gopal has much management/business development experience at big software industry and tech companies. He has also had leadership jobs at companies such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Symantec.

Gopal has worked as the interim president/COO of Symantec, which is a California-based tech company. He’s led the company as it recruited a full-time CEO.

Gopal was senior VP and general manager at Hewlett-Packard beginning in the year 2011. He’s worked at IBM from the year 1991 to 2000.

Gopal started his career working as a member of the technical staff workers at Bell Communications Research.

Gopal also has 23 UT patents in his name. He has also earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Cornell University. He has a Bachelor of Science degree that he’s earned from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

The company has stated that having Gopal on board has been a big win for ANSYS. Cashman stated that he is certain that Gopal’s leadership, unique viewpoint, and appreciation for the culture, people, and organization make him an excellent choice to work as the company’s leader during this time.

Meanwhile, Gopal stated that he was honored to be the leader of ANSYS. He stated that he is committed to building on the company’s standard of excellence, and innovation in order to help clients solve difficult software industry design problems.

Ronald Hovsepian works as the Chairman of ANSYS’ Board. He said that Gopal brings a good track record, experience managing the scale/complexity of a worldwide multi-billion dollar company, and skills in software strategy, product management, engineering, and development.

ANSYS’ headquarters are in Pennsylvania. It has over 75 strategic sales locations around the world. It has channel partners in more than 40 nations.

An ANSYS developer sells and supports simulation software for engineers. It’s used to predict how various signs will work in real-world environments.

The software industry company was founded in 1970 in Pennsylvania. The company had revenue of $896m in the fiscal year 2014. The company also had almost 3,000 employees in 2014. The company’s headquarters are located south of Pittsburgh. It produces a wide variety of products, which is an important feature that’s offered to its customers.
